I have been wanting to see Vienna since I saw the movie “Before Sunrise” (starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke). 20 years after, here I am in this beautiful city, one of Europe’s finest, with my own ‘Jesse’ plus 1. I am in love with its abundance of baroque buildings, formal gardens, clean streets, coffee houses and of course the museums. Vienna is not bustling with tourists as much as London or Paris, but that just delights me even more. All to myself.
As these 10 days sojourn includes 2 European countries (4 cities), we won’t be able to see and experience everything we want but as G always says, its better to leave a place always wanting to come back. We stayed in a charming Sofia B&B, loved its yellow painted building and its garden. G knows what I love and he tries to indulge me, bless him. We went around using their metro plus we walked everywhere. You can see a lot more when you walk as you are able to stop and stare as long as you wish to try to take it all in. Beauty leave me breathless and charming cities definitely do that. I would very much like to come back, but for now I have immensely enjoyed the imperial palaces of Hofburg and Schönbrunn and the MuseumsQuartier district, notably the Gustav Klimt display at the musuem.
“No one really knows anyone. That’s the thing about relationships – people are always saying, “I want to know you, I want to know who you are.” But it is so hard for anyone to even know themselves. Who I am is always changing, so how can anyone else share in that?”- before sunrise 1995
